New AABB Guidelines for Validating Pneumatic Tube Systems for Blood Products
The Updated AABB (American Association for Blood Banks) Guide to Pneumatic Tube Delivery System Validation and use for Blood Components is now available, which specifically include the use of data loggers to validate and check transport systems. The guideline is focused on blood products but the mechanism and outcome are identical: vibration that can cause hemolysis, which is detrimental to integrity.
The Guidelines address questions including
- What is validation?
- How can I validate my system as safe for the transport of blood products?
- What resources are available to assist me and my team?
The Guidelines, including sample pages, are available on the AABB site.
